The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Kuje Area Council on Monday arranged a challenge over the failure of the committee to pay six months remittances owed them.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the corps members, numbering around 60, blockaded the door of the gathering secretariat displying bulletins on which were scripted “pay us our six months recompenses; we are hungry and starving.”
Edna Akpan, the pioneer of the corp members, told NAN that they had prior kept in touch with the Kuje Area Council powers requesting that their allowances be paid yet the issue was not given the coveted consideration.
“We have not been paid in excess of six months and we don’t have great sleeping cushions at the Corpers’ Lodge; we are starving in this spot.
“Different corps members that served here board were not owed; its astounding that we are seeing such amid our time.
“The motivation behind why we left on this tranquil show is to demonstrate our grievances over the matter.”
Responding to the advancement, the Chairman of gathering, Shaban Tete, told NAN that the board organization, together with the NYSC Coordinator, would hold a roundtable talk to intention the issue.
Tete said the failure to pay the corps members was because of the lessening in the boards’ portion.
